Day 3 of our series and we turn our attention to books describing real life of big people either as a diary or stories from real life experiences. Today’s authors are Judith Moore, Michelle McManus and Cheryl Peck.
This book as been described as sad yet has received good reviews from the Sunday papers. It delivers the truth about growing up as a ‘fat’ child in America, describing her thoughts and needs for love as a child and the emotional bleakness of her life. This book has been described as a roller coaster ride which comes to a shuddering stop at the end of the book. However the book is a very good read and you will properly read it one sitting.

Michelle was the winner of the 2003 Pop Idol TV competition in the UK. She became famous for her voice and her size. This book is her diary of how she lost weight with of holistic nutritionist and presenter, Gillian McKeith.
When she was told she was at a life threatening 22 stone, she thought she must do something about it and took part in Channel 4’s TV program, You Are What You Eat. The program aired in 2004 and showed her being confronted about the truth of her food habits.
The book describes her eating re-education in how to eat healthily. The results were nothing short of astonishing. In the space of a year, Michelle lost an incredible 8 stone, dropping 5 dress sizes along the way. What's more, she felt better and more energized than ever before. And all without dieting. This book is Michelle's frank and funny personal diary of her extraordinary journey. Featuring exclusive recipes, tips and exercise plans that you can follow at home, it is an inspiration to anyone trying to find a realistic route to a healthy lifestyle.

Cheryl’s book is a collection of essays on the trials and tribulations of a gay woman of size living in America's heartland. It covers topics like her pets, swimming lessons, parents and family, growing up, and lots more. While not hysterically funny, each essay is well written and you do want to read about her first chocolate malt and how she grew tomatoes.
This book started out as a collection of stories she had written down, with the encouragement of friends and family and ended up being self published. Good work by a good talent.
