Day 2 of our 7 days of books looks at factual books by authors Ellen Ruppel Shell, Marilyn Wann and Shelley Bovey.
First let me start with the books description from Amazon...
We are facing a gathering health crisis of epic proportions. The crisis is obesity and the diseases linked to it - hypertension, diabetes, cancer and heart disease. While multinational drug companies race to find a cure, the problem only worsens, with experts declaring that the UK is the second most obese nation on the planet and that 31,000 death a year in Britain are obesity-related. In a rare blend of cutting-edge science, history and personal stories, Shell builds a compelling narrative culminating in a thought-provoking - and radical - call to arms. This is the definitive account of how the western world got fat - and what we can do about it.
...and let me finish with stating that you can never have to much information to hand. That is accurate information listed whole, not taken apart to prove what ever theory is going around which explains why there is the obesity epidemic. This book should help with that.

With the pressure put on big people and the outdated stereotypical views society seems to cling to, a book like this one is needed and you need to read it!
Most people who do read this book feel they have to read it twice. Not only that, you can find out why she dyes her hair pink and what crimes she committed according to weight watchers!

In this book, Welsh-born Shelly Bovey asks tough questions to Harley Street surgeons, dieticians and others with a vested interest in women wanting to be thinner, and talks to doctors who confess that prejudice, not science, makes them condemn fat women as "unhealthy".
"being fat is not a sin", but as the author argues, "the majority of overweight women are made to feel otherwise. Those who don't fit into society's strict limits on size are not just the butt of seaside postcards; they are considered stupid, incompetent and even deviant."The Forbidden Body helps find a way out of the miserable isolation so many women feel because of their size. It is about losing guilt and inhibition, not weight.
