EAT LESS!! Help Global Warming!

Sarah Toovey : 1 November 2005

I thought I'd heard it all!

Apparently not! I read this morning that Paul Higgins of the University of California says that we could help the ecological system by eating less!

The usual targets are driving your car - take a bus or bus instead, having a soak in the bath - take a refreshing shower, turn off lights as you leave the room, recycling your household waste are a few examples.

Apparently, the abundance of food served in restaurants represents and enormous investment of energy, most of the time as a pure loss, because this energy isn't spent in manual work. The Results are that the excess food converts to fat. In carrying out the minimum daily exercise recommended by doctors - jogging 5 kilometres or cycling 20 kilometres, helping to eliminate some of this excess fat - as well as the fact that not having used the car has helped the ecology too!
