ME and EM, new name for the Pyjama room

It's all change over at the Pyjama room, they are now called ME&EM. Sounds kinda strange at first but it's growing on me though. If you have never shopped there before then this is what they are about...

ME&EM brings a whole new meaning to how women dress at home. Our philosophy being that women should still be able to feel elegant and stylish without compromising on comfort. The range is mix and match, cut from beautifully soft fabric and extremely flattering. Perfect for wearing around the home and to bed, unwinding in after work, long haul travel and throwing over a bikini on holiday.

Jump over to their site and take a good look. Don't forget to come back and let me know what you think!

Crystal Renn's book has already been mentioned  if you want to find out more about her (Crystal Renn book reviewed and liked).

The posting also contains a poll, the options and the votes so far...

  • Love! It's about time - 75% (votes cast, 138,942)
  • A mix of body shapes is ideal - 21% (votes cast 38,691)

So what happend at the Simply Yours event with Gok?

I thought it was time I updated you lot with the Gok Wan event held by Simply Yours (Simply Yours gets Gok Wan to check out your bra!). It seems the event was a great success and one lucky winner got Gok's full attention. It went so well Simply Yours are considering more events in the future.

Anyway, this is what Simply Yours had to say...

UPLIFTING BRA FITTING EVENT A SUCCESS FOR SIMPLY YOURS & GOK WAN

Simply Yours' first ever Above Average Underwear Event, hosted by Gok Wan and Key 103, proved to a great success for the plus size lingerie specialist, who is now looking at running further events at selected venues across the country.

Guests arriving at Manchester's Hilton found the Cloud 23 bar decked out in sumptuous fashion with pink and black balloons and prints of the Simply Yours ranges adorning the walls. Beauty treatments went down a storm, as did jewellery displays and specially made ‘Goktails'.

The Simply Yours team gave out lingerie advice, including tips for finding the perfect bra, while Gok himself leant his expertise to one lucky competition winner, using his 1940s inspired collection of shapewear, designed exclusively for Simply Yours.

A good time was had by all, prompting Simply Yours to look at the possibility of taking the show on the road and hosting the Above Average Underwear Event in other UK cities.

If you didn't attend you can still get bra fitting advice from Simply Yours, plus here are some great pics and videos from the night.

Watch this space for news of future events!

Pictures are fine but how about a video? Here is one from that event...

Plus Size Fashion in America

This is a guest post by Glen L Johnson from Full Figure Plus discussing the state of plus size fashion in the US.

Admittedly when Bob approached me about writing about the plus size experience in America I was clueless as to how to chronicle something that I have been passionate about. In the four years that I have been blogging about plus size fashion on Full Figure Plus, the one thing that still somewhat depresses me is as popular as blogs and websites dealing with plus size fashion have become the general public still treat plus size fashion as well as plus size individuals as second class citizens.

One good thing that has come out of the fashion evolution in America is the influences from Europe as well as men and women wanting to wear clothing other than tent dresses, and sweat pants. It appears at least to me that overall there is not a focused movement against larger individuals in other countries but I could be wrong.

Sure we have seen companies like IGIGI, Monif C, Vicki V and others to break out of the pack with huge success among the plus size community, but for every plus size fashion victory there is a size discrimination media blitz. So much for not discriminating against people based on size.

The sad part about these successful companies is that they exist because mainstream stores do not carry plus sizes. The excuse for years has been that it costs more to make larger sizes or that the company does not want to be labeled as "fat friendly".

Even though there have been studies about the average size among both men and women the fashion industry has been slow to embrace larger individuals despite reports that predict women alone will account for $12 billion dollars spent on clothing.

America brags about being on top in so many areas, but the one area that my country lives in the dark ages is size acceptance. I pray that one day not only will men and women be able to walk into any store and get clothing regardless of size, but the fashion community embraces a size 22 the same as a size 2.

Buy Plus Size British - more great finds

I have been on my travels looking for interesting stuff for you lovely ladies to look at. So I am happy to say that I have found more UK shops. They all seem to go up to size 18/20/22 and look fairly trendy.

Plus size fancy dress for all occasions

Christmas is getting closer and there is no where to hide. So embrace it and get ready for the party season. I know there are a lot of plus size places to shop for that great out fit for the office party but where will you go for that private costume party? You know, the invite says fancy dress and shopping for plus sizes is hard enough at the best of times.

Well look no more! Just found a UK retailer that makes plus size fancy dress outfits in the UK. Shame I just found out about them, would have been handy for Halloween.

So lets get down to the important stuff, what sizes can they cater for. According to the website of Large and Lovely Fancy Dress, they can cater for sizes 18 to 40. And they have quite a collection with lots more to come.

Not just Christmas costumes but something for every kind of fancy dress party. Fairy costumes, 60's,70's and 80's, medieval, pirate, roman gods and goddesses and more.

Like other retailers I have spoken to,the credit crunch has not touched Large and Lovely Fancy Dress too much and in fact seem to be doing rather well. So well that they plan to extend their range with some 'hip and trendy' outfits for plus size teens.

So many costumes to choose from but I have chosen this one as my current favourite.

By the way, if your slimmer friends get jealous of your outfit then point them to the sister site of Large and Lovely Fancy Dress, Flag Ship Fancy Dress.

Background on Curvaceous Beauties

It's always nice when you can get some backgound on a shop, why they started and who they are. Makes me more comfortable when spending my money. Curvaceous Beauties from the UK has contributed and I hope other shops feel they can too.

Curvaceous Beauties Plus Size Lingerie is a lingerie site with a difference.

We are a small company which has been trading for over seven years on the net and our staff are plus size ladies too so we understand the trials and tribulations curvier women go through to buy sexy lingerie.

Let’s face it a little retail therapy goes a long way and whereas we can’t buy a new house, sports car or a new Mulberry handbag every day, a sexy new babydoll can spice up your wardrobe and your bedroom fun!

There are lots of lingerie websites on the net these days but few cater solely for size 16+ curvier ladies. At Curvaceous Beauties we were very conscious of this when we started our online shop and didn’t want to offer smaller sizes so our ladies (and men) felt part of a special group of people. We still have customers with us who bought from us right back in 2001 and purchase regularly so we must be doing something right!

There are small items such as stockings from around £4 up to luxury lingerie from the wonderful Shirley of Hollywood. Sizes are 16 upwards, some items going up to a size 28 or 50 bust. There is a plus size sexy lingerie outfit to suit every budget and taste. Tip: visit our clearance section as there are always some great bargains to be had all year round! We try to beat the competition on price but if you find anything cheaper elsewhere online please let us know and we will try to beat it!

Visit us at www.CurvaceousBeauties.com or call Julia or Sarah on 01992 302166 – you will be glad you did!

Clothing sale and a new website

Just a couple of items that ought to be of interest to you. First, the BFC has dropped me a line about a sale they have on. We have mentioned the Big Fat Clothing Company before but their sale is now on with 50% of all stock.

The second item is a new clothing website called C.ENNE.V based in the USA. Their second collection is out and from what I can see it is worth investigating. A quick snip from the email I received from Shayna.

We offer premium denim, lightweight denim and an array of gorgeous tops and dresses-all designed to fit and flatter-reasoanbly priced-beautiful quality and made with more love and devotion than I can tell you. We want women to have the choices in fashion they have been starved of for far too long.

I shall look more in to that site as there does seem to be some really nice outfits. And for a change the models are curvey so you don't have to imagine to hard how the clothes might look like on you.
