More boots to see from Five Favorite Things

I often go on about boots because I like to wear them, hubby says I look good in them and these days seem to be quite fashionable. However I do look around UK based retailers trying to find something that fits and looks good.

So if you are from the States and like me want a pair of boots for the winter season then check out the Five Favorite Things website where Moe has found three pairs for you to see. I like the Matisse style myself, how about you?

Still hunting for decent boots

Did some one mention shoes or boots? I am always on the look out for stylish boots and shoes that will actually fit me. I don't mean to rattle on about calf fitting or problems with widths but getting hold of shoes and boots that fit, look nice and comfortable - is it really that difficult? YES for a lot of us anyway.

So on my travels around the net I have found this UK supplier called Buckles and Bows. They have a small selection of shoes for Us plus sized lot. It seems they can do wide calf sizes for boots as well, good for me as I want them stylish and wearable.

So ladies, what with the weather changing and the need for decent foot wear become needed, where exactly do you go to get yours?

Plus in Boots is still closing down

Have you ever walked past those shops that seem to have a constant closing down sale? You know the type, big huge banners in the window, 'everything must go' and 'closing down huge discounts'. Well it seems Plus In Boots is doing the Internet version.

Just received another email from them, they are still closing down. I last mentioned that they were shutting up shop in May this year (Plus In Boots is no more). At that time their boots were on sale for £50, now they are down to £30.

The media loved this boot with more coverage on Gok Wan's Fashion Fix and This Morning. Get them while you can. Made in gorgeous soft suede now only available in Black with hand stitched detail and bow. Now only £30 was £155

Their website says they are having a massive stock clearance sale with up to %70 off. No mention of closing down.

Like I said before, good looking boots, shame we never heard of them.

Plus In Boots is no more

The first email I get from Plus In Boots is to tell me they are closing down! To be honest I have never heard of them but that is possibly a failing on my part. Or it could be a reason they are shutting down, no one else has heard of them.

It is with regret that we have to inform you that PlusinBoots will soon be closing its doors, both virtual and physical.   Therefore we just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all our customers who have been very loyal over the last 5 years and let you know that this is the last chance to buy our fabulous calf width boots in 6 calf widths.   Everything must go and you will be able to find boots from as little as £50.   Once its gone its gone, so make sure you grab a bargain and a little bit of fashion history.

This UK company which is located in Dorset (UK), sells some very nice boots so it's a shame it is no more.

Customized boots for that perfect fit

Can a girl have enough shoes or boots? Of course not but then can you get a pair that really fit, not just put them on and feel good but really fit because they are made to measure? I am looking for a decent pair of boots to see me through the winter and like most plus size girls out there, buying off the shelf is not a real option.

So I was really pleased to find Selve, a custom boot maker from the UK. They have been going for about 5 years and seem to be going from strength to strength despite the current credit crunch.

If you want to buy some affordable luxury from Selve, the first thing you need to do is visit one of their 'salon's', for the UK that means a trip to London. There you will get your feet scanned by machine which takes all the important measurements. From there you can customize a template to get your ideal boot. In fact they store all those important foot type measurements so that you can call for your next pair and not necessarily visit the salon.

As they are a bespoke service, focusing on style and fit, turn around is not quick – around 6 weeks. But what you do get is a perfectly fitting stylish boot. All boots are the same price no matter how much you fiddle with the design. Put down a deposit and they design and manufacture and it's yours for £450. One excellent deal if you ask me.

Now to give you some idea of how well they are doing, they are opening up a boutique in Redbank which is very very close to New York. This goes with their existing salon in Munich and London. Also they are increasing their range to cover mens shoes and handbags.

Vogue likes them too, they are the only shoe service mentioned in this months supplement. Compliments indeed!

If you are outside of the UK planning to visit the website then do not be surprised that it is all in German. Hopefully this will be something that can be fixed soon. However the pictures say it all and I am sure you will be happy to look at all the pretty footwear and not mind the different language.

One other thing I should mention, if you are looking to give a prezzy then consider a gift voucher. Must make sure I leave a HUGE hint for my husband so that I can design my perfect boot and ensure that he pays for it.

Here are two contact addresses to get in touch with Selve. Please tell them who sent you!

New collection of calf-fit boots from Duo

I do seem to keep mentioning Duo Boots. This time it's because their new collection has arrived. Hopefully with the new fittings we can all find a style that is going to fit us. Their handcrafted boots now have 21 calf fittings and shoes in up to 5 widths.

I took a look at the new range of the many styles and was fairly impressed. Size range goes from UK size 2 to 10 and calf width of 30cm to 50cm.

If want an expert to fit you some something stylish then head over to one of their shops; London, Bath, Edinburgh, Manchester and Amsterdam or make a puchase from their online shop.

Duo launch their new boot range for Autumn

As mentioned before, Duo Boots have launched a new collection of boots ready for Autumn. 21 calf sizes across the range so I guess you should find a boot to fit and look gorgeous too. Their full range can be seen on their site but here are three to look at...

  • Genova platform boots in opulent mallard green suede - team with a metallic tunic dress for contemporary glamour.
  • Florence the definitive black leather boot - get the look with ribbed tights and the green knit dress that’s absolutely everywhere this season.
  • Bologna distinctive textured leather boots, wear with grey skinny fit jeans and a funky print smock for that understated chic look.

They are also offering until the 29th September free delivery in the UK of their boot of the month. Not bad!

Duo does Christmas

Those boot and shoe specialists, Duo, seem to have Christmas all sorted out. First of all they have gift vouchers. They come in denominations of £6.70, £20 or £50 and can you can get them by calling the Duo Mail Order Hotline on (UK - 0845 070 55 88).

Next up, they have a shop in London where you can get fitted by their expert team or as they call them, 'DUO Footwear Fitting Angles'. Just 5 minutes stroll from Oxford Circus, perfect if you are already shopping in London!

They also have some nice seasonal items to wear to go with your boots. And they say they have a 'wish list' feature coming soon to their website.

And the best bit, as mentioned in their newsletter is this...

We always enjoy hearing from you, and finding out just what you love about your DUO boots and shoes. So much so that we run a monthly competition for a FREE pair of DUO boots. Tell us your DUO boots and shoes story and if you win, we′ll not only publish it to all our readers, but we’ll also send you a gift voucher worth £150.00!

I do like competitions especially if there is some cool stuff to get!

Fantasy shoes

Hmmm! Dreamy! Excuse me while I fantasise over the range of shoes available - I'm somewhat of a shoe-a-holic... although my husband might say handbag-a-holic too! I've found some cute pumps with a heel of 1.75 inches and that look really comfortable! They have a perfed vamp with a modified couture type Chanel toe and bow too. They come in old rose suede and ice grey suede. If the credit card allows I think I might just buy the old rose ones... of drop some subtle hints about what I want for Christmas! What do you think?
