Being you is being beautiful, new video from Igigi

This video lasts only a minute and two seconds with no speaking but it says an awful lot. Though it's a promo for Igigi, it works and looks wonderful. In case you are wondering, the model is Fluvia Lacerda.

Winner selected for Simply Yours Brief to Bra competition

Do you remember the Brief to Bra competition run by Simply Yours? Sure you do, I mentioned it a few times before. Well a winner has been selected, lucky Christine Pipes has had her design selected and it's going to be made! Keep up to date with progress by following the FaceBobook fan page.

The full (long) press release is after the pictures of Christines design...

Following Gok Wan's belief that lingerie must have the Va Va Voom factor, plus size lingerie specialist Simply Yours decided to give the women who wear its lingerie the chance to decide what they want to wear.

The Manchester based company which specialises in underwear for the plus-size lady invited its customers, lingerie lovers and fashion students to enter a lingerie design competition - From Brief to Bra - to get their design made and sold in the Simply Yours 2011 Spring Summer collection.

Over 100 women entered the competition with inspiration for their dream lingerie sets ranging from Hollywood Glamour to birds and flowers. Three finalists were then chosen by a panel of judges at the Simply Yours headquarters before the final decision was handed over to the Great British public on Facebook.

Nearly 400 people voted on their favourite design and the lucky winner is 38 year old Christine Pipes, from Consett, County Durham, a teacher at Newcastle Royal Grammar School in Jesmond, Newcastle.

Christine's delectable cupcake design was inspired by a set of retro mugs she had recently purchased and cupcakes a student had baked for her school's charity week.

Christine says: "The appeal of cupcakes in the retro design and the feminine pastel shades which are subtle but still vibrant. My aim is to find a balance between the comfort and practicality of everyday wear and the elegance and femininity that all women should embrace."

The design will be produced and sold both in the Simply Yours catalogue and online at www.simplyyours.co.uk. In addition Christine will also be involved in the development of the lingerie set, working with expert designers and lingerie buyers from the Simply Yours team, from the materials sourcing stage right through to the final product photoshoot.

Alison Forbes, Marketing Manager at Simply Yours: "Christine's cute as a button cupcake design captured the judges' hearts from the beginning. As well as being downright adorable, Christine's design incorporated thought for comfort and support - both very important factors to us at Simply Yours!

"We can definitely see the design coming to life and fitting in perfectly with the rest of the Simply Yours range. We've had such a great standard of entries and it was really hard to choose the final three. The design competition is definitely something we would like to repeat in the future."

Christine's journey with Simply Yours will be documented over the coming months on the Facebook Fan Page "From Brief to Bra" (www.facebook.com/FromBriefToBra).

The successful design will sit alongside underwear from famous names such as Freya, Panache, Pour Moi and Wonderbra, as well as a stylish control wear collection designed exclusively for Simply Yours by Gok Wan.

The Simply Yours collection covers the entire spectrum of plus size shapewear, including bras, corsets, slips and knickers, swimwear and nightwear. Sizes range from 30-50 with cups A-JJ and up to 56 and K and L in selected sizes which is a factor entrants to the competition will need to bear in mind

Lutu the plus size warrior

I recently received an email from a talented cartoonist, here is what he said...

Hi, my name is Steve Coffin and I am an indy comic book creator and I thought you might be interested in my book.

I produce a comic book called 'Lutu Warrior of the North' that has a Plus Size Woman as the lead character. Lutu Warrior of the North is a Sword and Sorcery Comedy adventure where our Heroine's size is not the issue but her trade. Lutu is a Barbarian Chef who is the sister of a famous Warrior and she takes up the mantle of her sister's identity in a quest to find her after her sister goes missing.

Along the way she meets with Sword Master Han and Lutu begins her training as a Warrior. The central message of the book is very positive one and it is a welcome departure to how women are usually portrayed in comic books.

I just love it! Here is a sample from the comic...

Perfect handmade furry scales

I saw these scales in a TV documentary last year. Even then I thought to myself, where on earth do I get one of those? I am happy to tell you that not only can you get one but I can tell you who is behind it too!

I am sure our US friends already know all about these furry scales with positive messages, for those who don't - the one and only Marilyn Wann is the one responsible. If you want to buy one then they will set you back $55 from VoluptuArt.

Now just imagine heading in to the bathroom for the morning ritual, wiggling your toes around the pink fur and getting a nice warm fuzzy message to start your day with. Better than all those fancy scales any day!

Roomy Riders offers equestrian outfits

Are you finding it difficult to find something to wear for your equestrian interests? Well look no further as Roomy Riders come to the rescue. To be totally honest with you I know nothing about horses and related events so there is not a lot I can add, except of course that the clothing does look nice and generally covers size 16 to 26.

Here is the detail from the about page to give you something more...

Roomy Riders was setup to meet the need of us plus size horse riding ladies who have restricted choice in clothing designed for the equestrian scene.

My name is Kirsty and in the past I have purchased items from well known equestrian clothing suppliers.Being a plus size girl I came to realise that most of these suppliers cared little for the bigger girl and when they did produce plus size clothes I found I had to start paying extra for the priviledge for outsize equestrian wear...............so what's new girls?.

I started the business with the Ladies Pintado Polo shirt aiming to first of all get the fit correct and then proceeded to concentrate on getting the quality.
We started to sell our plus size equestrian wear on Ebay and got some good feedback so decided to branch out with this website.
We have now got more items for sale and hope to grow the business with our customers help.

Comments welcome from those who know about such things...

Katie Price Lingerie has been dropped by ASDA

Since my posting about Katie Price Lingerie possibly being dropped by ASDA, I have had a few enquires and at least one comment on the posting itself. The commenter is really upset with ASDA about this and asks WHY???

Well I want to know why too, so I called ASDA PR dept this morning and yes dear ladies, they have dropped the range. They have promised to email me details on what has happened, since the range was dropped some time ago. What confused the issue is that some stores are still pushing out stock that they have left with no hope of more to come.

As soon as I have more details I will let you know.
